Project News

Weekly Construction Update: 12/08/2017

Dec 08, 2017 | News and Alerts

Traffic impacts from Saturday, Dec. 9 to Friday, Dec. 15:

  • Daytime shoulder closures in both directions of I-205 between the Glenn Jackson Bridge and SE Flavel St. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Night time lane and shoulder closures in both directions between the Glenn Jackson Bridge and SE Division St. from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday

Project description: This project will improve operations and safety on I-205 between Johnson Creek Boulevard and the Glenn Jackson Bridge. Work will include paving the freeway, ramps and intersections; building auxiliary lanes in three locations; installing ODOT RealTime signs; improving the entrance to the multi-use path at Glisan Street; and improving sidewalk curb ramps within the project area. Construction will begin in 2018.

As part of this project starting in 2018, geotechnical investigations will begin in December 2017 to obtain more information about the physical properties of the underlying surface of the roadway, such as stability and drainage rates. Geotechnical drilling is being conducted so project engineers can confirm engineering properties for the design of ODOT’s new RealTime signs.

Night Time Field Work for Geotechnical Drilling in December 2017

Nov 20, 2017 | News and Alerts

As part of ODOT’s I-205 Paving and Auxiliary Lanes project starting in 2018, geotechnical investigations are necessary to obtain more information about the physical properties of the underlying surface of the roadway, such as stability and drainage rates. Geotechnical drilling is being conducted so project engineers can confirm engineering properties for the design of ODOT’s new RealTime signs. Read the noise notice for full details.

Noise Variance Hearing – June 14th (LOCATION CHANGE)

Jun 14, 2017 | News and Alerts

ODOT is requesting a nighttime noise variance permit from the City of Portland (Title 18). Working at night is necessary to keep daytime traffic flowing on the heavily traveled freeway. As part of the permit process, ODOT will present the noise variance application to the Noise Review Board on Wednesday, June 14, in order to gain approval. This meeting is open to the public. If you have noise related concerns or feedback about this project and want them to be taken into consideration by the Noise Review Board, you can:

  • Email testimony to Dee Hidalgo, ODOT Community Affairs Coordinator, prior to June 14 at Dee.Hidalgo@odot.state.or.us.
  • Attend the City of Portland Noise Review Board meeting at 6 p.m. on June 14, 2017,
Location (Updated): Portland Building (1120 SW 5th Ave) in Room B, 2ND Floor

Innovation Spotlight: Regional Stormwater Treatment Facility

Jul 20, 2016 | News and Alerts

ODOT treats all stormwater that runs off construction sites and facilities such as roads. In the past, dedicated stormwater treatment was constructed for each project. For this project, the capacity of an existing facility will be expanded and will be retrofitted to use best practices in water quality treatment. The design will reduce maintenance costs and allow enough capacity to treat water from several projects by creating a regional stormwater treatment facility. The cost-efficient and environmentally friendly facility will be a model for ODOT projects in the future.
